Officials said residents may see or hear low-flying NORAD-controlled fighter jets in close proximity to civilian aircraft. The civilian aircraft will be taking the role of an aircraft of interest during the exercises.

The release said NORAD has conducted similar exercises in the United States and Canada since the start of Operation Noble Eagle, the command's response to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Weather could delay the exercise for 24 hours.
