LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - Lake County deputies said they arrested a 27-year-old mother after her baby was discovered with blood clots and injuries.
Deputies said 27-year-old Lynsey Overton, Leesburg, was arrested Friday evening after her infant was discovered to have blood clots in the brain and fractures while at the hospital.
Deputies said the infant was discovered to be shaking and acting abnormally by a cousin of Overton, who urged her to take the baby to the hospital.
Doctors discovered old and new injuries including fluid on the brain, blood clots, injuries to the mouth and twisting injuries that are indicative of shaken baby syndrome, deputies said.
Deputies said Overton first blamed her boyfriend, but admitted to treating the infant roughly.
Deputies said Overton shook the baby who was crying, the forced a bottle into the infant's mouth, forcing her to vomit.
Overton said doctors advised her in the past to feed the baby every three hours because the child was not thriving, but she explained she liked to sleep in and didn't feed her, deputies said.
