LEESBURG, Fla. - One person is killed in a crash in Lake County caused by a man fleeing from a Lake County Sheriff's deputy.
On Friday, Aug. 30 at 12:13 a.m., Lavonne Ramone Walker, 27, was fleeing from a Lake County Sheriff's deputy, heading westbound on Montclair Road in a 2006 Chrysler 300, Florida Highway Patrol troopers say.
Walker traveled over the double yellow lines at one point, and as he attempted to make a right turn into CR 468, he failed to stop at the stop sign, according to Florida Highway Patrol's report.
As he entered the intersection, he struck the right side of the oncoming vehicle with Carol Renn, 58, and Ralf Renn, 85, in it driving northbound on CR 468.
Walker and his 15-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. Carol Renn had no injuries, while Ralf Renn died from his fatal injuries at Orlando Regional Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 6.
Walker was arrested by a deputy on the scene, and the crash still remains under investigation with charges pending.
