Local pig stars in documentary

Chris P. Bacon in documentary on bionic pets

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Lake County's most famous pig is getting another credit under his name-- this time, it's as a documentary film star.

Chris P. Bacon, owned by veterinarian Dr. Len Lucero, was born with malformed hind legs. Because he can't walk using them, he became famous when his owner made him a wheelchair and videos of him went viral.

Chris has been the star of children's books and has been seen in the news all over the country.

Now he's one of the stars of the PBS documentary "My Bionic Pet" as part of the "Nature" series. The segment is about disabled animals that have been given a second chance at life. You can watch a trailer here.

It's scheduled to air next Wednesday at 8 p.m. on WUCF.

In the meantime, you can help Chris on his latest film venture. Lucero is raising money with an Indiegogo campaign for an animated musical film called "Chris P. Bacon Saves Christmas."

They were only $3,000 away from their $55,000 goal at the time of writing this article.

The website said the film is about a pig who saves Christmas with the message that you can do anything if you don't give up.
