CLERMONT, Fla. - You may want to be extra careful while driving through one Lake County city--or you could be caught on one of dozens of new red light cameras.
Clermont city leaders voted Tuesday to install 24 new cameras. This after council members recently voted to change city ordinances to allow them.
The new cameras will be dispersed at 13 different intersections. All of those intersections are either on State Road 50, which runs east to west--or on Highway 27, which runs north to south.
Supporters of the proposal said the cameras will help to cut down on the number of crashes in the area.
Offenders will face fines of more than $150 if caught running lights.
