Principal replaced at Lake County school where accused molester worked

Lake County school board replaces principal at suspect's elementary school

TAVARES, Fla. – The Lake County school board has removed a principal who headed a school whose students were allegedly molested by a school worker at his home.

Mark Griffin was an after-school worker active in church, Girl Scouts and baton-twirling groups, who also took children to Disney World, where his wife works as a merchandise specialist, police investigators found.

Griffin also collected videos of children younger than 10 being raped, police say, including one video showing a naked 9-year-old girl in his bathtub during an overnight stay with him.

Monday, the Lake County school board removed Robin Neeld as principal of Treadway Elementary School, replacing her with Rhonda Boone.

Neeld had, at first, denied receiving complaints about Griffin, but police later learned parents had complained he was acting inappropriately around girls at the school. Neeld later admitted she did hear concerns and warned Griffin not to touch children.

Griffin remains in the Lake County jail awaiting trial.

Neeld remains a school board employee, while the district continues to investigate her actions.
