TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A Leon County circuit judge is holding a political consulting firm in contempt.
But he has not yet decided on whether to make public nearly 2,000 pages of documents connected to a redistricting lawsuit. Judge Terry Lewis on Friday signed an order against Pat Bainter and Gainesville-based firm Data Targeting.
The firm does work for Republicans in the state.
Lewis faulted the firm for failing to turn over the documents as previously ordered. He also told them to pay attorney fees to those seeking the documents.
But during a brief hearing Lewis agreed to have a special magistrate go through the documents to decide whether or not some should be kept private.
The documents are being sought by a coalition of groups challenging Florida's current congressional and legislative districts.
