Man arrested after brutally beating his wife, Groveland police say

2 weapons seized from man's residence

GROVELAND, Fla. – A man has been taken into custody after Groveland police say he brutally beat his wife.

Robert Haseleu II was arrested Tuesday after his wife reported numerous instances of physical assault to police. The victim was badly bruised on a large portion of her body, with the injuries in different stages of healing, police say.

The instances of assault occurred between March 1 and March 8, and Haseleu is accused of threatening his wife's life on more than one occasion during that time, according to the report.

Police advised the victim to seek medical treatment for her injuries.

After the victim left the Groveland Police Department, officers went to arrest Haseleu. Upon police arrival, Haseleu hid in a shed under a broken down body of a car where he refused to come out until police ordered at gunpoint, according to the report.

Police said they seized two weapons from the residence, one of which was a shot gun used in the assault of the victim.

Haseleu was placed under arrest and taken to the Lake County Jail. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation, battery and resisting arrest without violence.
