Deputies: Man threatens family, runs off into the woods

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County deputies investigated why a man threatened his family, then ran off into the woods  early Sunday morning.

Deputies said the first call came around 1:30 a.m., Sunday as an assault and battery call at 12220 South East 134th Court in Ocklawaha.

Deputies said the call escalated to the point of SWAT involvement.

Deputies said 34-year-old Kevin Bailey was threatening family members with a gun and a knife and according to one of the victim's several of them suffered injuries.

Deputies said when they arrived at the home, Bailey reportedly fired a shot from the gun, although it was unknown if he fired at responding officers.

Deputies said Bailey ran off into the woods after the shot was fired and as SWAT was closing in on his location, he committed suicide.

Marion County detectives said their investigation is on-going.
