Orange County deputies say man waved gun at children

Eugene Govan.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County deputies had an apartment building surrounded after they say a man with a gun ran inside and threatened those inside.

Deputies said they were at 5212 Via Alizar after they said a man threatened adults and children inside the apartment around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies said the man, Eugene Govan, was the one who threatened the family and possibly had his girlfriend, Lawanda Dixson, with him.

Deputies said there were a number of people inside the apartment, including children as the man entered.

An adult inside the residence was able to get the children out, as the suspect entered, deputies said.

A Chase unit saw the suspect go inside, but never saw him come out, deputies said.  After a 10-hour standoff, the man was not found inside the home.

Deputies said the incident appears to have stemmed from an argument that took place at the home on Friday when there was a loud argument in the same apartment.

On that day, the suspect is believed to have pointed a firearm at several persons within the residence.

Deputies said anyone who has seen Govan is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
