Man arrested in overnight shooting in Apopka

No one hurt in incident

APOPKA, Fla. – One person is in custody after a dispute led to a shootout in Apopka Friday night, according to police.

Apopka police officers responded to a reports of a shooting near Park Avenue and Davis Court at 7:11 p.m.

After closing off streets and evacuating residents, officers learned that the shooting started after a verbal argument between two neighbors, according to the incident report.

The victim told officers that after fighting with his neighbor, Ronnie Bridges, Bridges retrieved a weapon and started firing.

The victim got his own gun to defend himself, according to Apopka officers, and the neighbors started shooting back and forth.

After identifying Bridges as the shooter, the Apopka SWAT team a served search warrant for his house, finding shell casings and other evidence, according to the report.

Bridges was located at another location and arrested without incident, police said. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, shooting into an occupied vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm.

No one was injured in the incident. A resident reported that her vehicle was struck by several bullets as she drove on Park Avenue past Davis Court during the shooting.

Bridges was booked into the Orange County Jail and ordered held without bond.
