LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Hundreds of Walt Disney World workers rallied Monday for better pay and benefits from the company.
The union workers held a rally and then marched along the street near Downtown Disney. The union is made up of housekeepers, custodians, and food service workers. The workers say they wanted to push for higher pay and benefits as negotiations continue between Disney and the union.

Disney says it has offered the workers what it calls a "strong and compelling" offer for the workers. It includes starting rates of $9 per hour this year, going up to $10 per hour by July of 2016. Disney says its offer also covers an average of 75 percent of the cost of health care premiums.
Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Wahler released a statement Monday night saying, "This offer reflects our appreciation and care for our Cast Members and our commitment to providing a leading employment package. We look forward to working with the union and engaging in constructive negotiations to finalize and reach a collective bargaining agreement. "
The current contract between Disney and the union workers expires next month.
