No bond for teen arrested in fatal shooting near UCF

Charles Dessus, 18, arrested in death of Full Sail student

ORLANDO, Fla. – An 18-year-old was arrested late Tuesday in connection with a shooting near the University of Central that left a Full Sail University dead.

Charles Dessus faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of Brandon Benjamin, who was shot early Saturday at The Gatherings Apartments complex.

A judge granted Dessus no bond at his first appearance Wednesday.

Orange County sheriff's deputies said as people were leaving a party, an argument broke out and shots were fired.  Deputies found Benjamin on the ground with a gunshot wound.

Benjamin was transported to Florida East Hospital where he later died.

Deputies released cellphone video of the shooting Monday night, which showed someone leaning out of a truck and firing shots into a crowd after a party.

"You can see clearly in that very powerful video that the suspect basically fires in the air. Then a short time later, (he) opens fire on the victim. Our hearts go out to the victim and his family," said Jane Watrel, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses led deputies to Dessus after the video was released, according to officials.

Dessus was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
