Small brush fire shuts down toll lane

Fire spreads quickly off State Road 408

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A small brush fire broke out off the side of the road Sunday afternoon, shutting down one of the toll lanes so firefighters could extinguish the flames.

Orange County firefighters said calls started coming in from drivers around 2:15 p.m. Sunday after a tree was reported to be on fire.

Firefighters said the fire quickly spread, but they were able to quickly contain it once they arrived on scene.

Firefighters had to shut down one toll lane of State Road 408 at Hiawassee Road to extinguish the blaze.

Firefighters said the fire never got larger then 10 feet by 50 feet.

The cause of the fire is unknown and there was no damage to the toll plaza or injuries to the workers.
