Deputies: Sex offender arrested for bank robbery

Deputies say man who is registered felon arrested again

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Osceola County deputies said they arrested a man who is a registered felon and sex offender for his role in a Friday bank robbery.

Deputies said Jacques Merlin was arrested for his involvement in the Bank of America robbery in Poinciana Friday afternoon.

Deputies were called to the Bank of America at 2:35 p.m. Friday at 35 South Doverplum Avenue in Poinciana.

Deputies said they spoke with an employee who said a man entered the bank and demanded money at gunpoint. He fled the area in a vehicle.

Deputies were able to locate the vehicle at 15 Trophy Lane in Poinciana, officials said.

Deputies said Merlin lives at that home and was not being cooperative while he was being questioned.

Based on the witness statements and evidence, Merlin was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail, deputies said.

Deputies said after further investigation they determined he did not have a weapon and no one else was involved in the crime.
