ORLANDO, Fla. – Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan attended political rallies in both Ocala and Fort Myers on Thursday.
Ryan spoke at the Ocala Town Square at 12:40 p.m. energizing the crowd by speaking for nearly 30 minutes. He then headed to Fort Myers for a victory rally.
The GOP vice presidential nominee's speech was aimed at Florida seniors. He used his mother to segue into the worry many seniors face over health care and Medicare.
"The best way to save Medicare is to repeal Obamacare and that's exactly what we're going to do," said Ryan.
He then outlined some points of his and Romney's plan to strengthen Medicare and make social security go further. The first thing they'd do would be to increase the minimum age to draw social security benefits.
Ryan also answered questions from the crowd for a large portion of the Ocala rally.
A woman asked him about the Romney/Ryan plan for space, which the duo hadn't commented much on before.
Ryan's response was that the team is still developing a specific plan, but he didn't elaborate.
Many from the very receptive crowd said they've heard enough to make a decision at the polls in just a few weeks.
"I am so enthused about the Romney/Ryan ticket because at least they have answers," said Carolyn Conrey, of Marion County.
A large group of Obama supporters demonstrated throughout the rally, chanting "liar" and "four more years."
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney will accompany Ryan at a rally on Friday at the Daytona Beach bandshell, just in time for Biketoberfest.
Democractic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden will also make campaign stops in Florida on Friday and Saturday in Fort Pierce and Sun City Center.
