PALM HARBOR, Fla. - A former Polk County judicial assistant has filed a complaint with state and federal authorities, saying she was fired for reporting an affair between a judge and a bailiff and was sexually harassed by the bailiff.
Alisha Rupp held a news conference Wednesday in the office of her Pinellas County attorney.
Rupp said she was employed by Judge Beth Harlan in Bartow and that she walked in on Judge Susan Flood and bailiff James "Bubba" Maxcy having sex in September 2012. Rupp alleges that in May of this year, Maxcy made sexually harassing remarks and rubbed his body on hers.
Rupp reported this to the county's chief judge and was fired in July.
The chief judge, Harlan, Flood and Sheriff Grady Judd did not return calls for comment.
