Troopers said Calloway was driving a Ford Fusion eastbound and tried to slow down after passing stopped traffic.  He also tried to avoid a collision but lost control and went off the roadway, crashing into the posts and tree, troopers said.

Calloway suffered serious injuries and was taken to Heart of Florida Hospital, where he later died, the FHP said.

A 25-year-old woman and 7-year-old boy who were passengers in the car suffered minor injuries, the FHP said.

All three occupants were wearing their seat belts, troopers said.
