SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - Two men were arrested for using hidden spare keys to steal cars last week in Seminole County, deputies said.

Officers said that Calaisi Gomes, 18, and a 17-year-old partner were charged with grand theft after stealing two cars in the Altamonte Springs and Apopka areas.

Deputies discovered one of the stolen cars in a parking lot with a wallet containing one of the suspect's identification inside.

Spare keys kept inside of vehicles resulted in 40 percent of stolen cars last year, according to the City-County Auto Theft Task Force. They say leaving a spare key inside of a vehicle is an open invitation to car thieves and should never be done.
