The teen told police he was at his friend's house on Lemon Road while the parents were at the race track, police said.

The friend, who is also 13-years-old, went to his bedroom and brought out his loaded .22 rifle from a gun rack where other guns are, police said.

Police said as the teen was showing his friend the gun, it accidentally went off and hit his friend in the arm around the elbow.

Police said instead of calling 911, they called the parents and told them he was shot with a BB gun.

The mother took the victim to the hospital where they discovered the bullet was still lodged in his arm, police said.

Police said the teen was rushed to Arnold Palmer hospital where he had to undergo surgery to remove the bullet.

Police said they have not filed any charges, but the case remains under investigation.
