Coast Guard crew saves flooding boat off Ponce Inlet

Hull of 'Mo Money' cracked, boaters say

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – A Coast Guard boat crew assisted three boaters whose vessel began taking on water 25 miles northeast of Ponce De Leon Inlet Wednesday.

Around 10:30 a.m., the men reported the hull of their 23-foot vessel named Mo Money was cracked. They were able to make a temporary patch using a life jacket to control the flooding but feared the patch would not hold once they began heading to shore, according to officials.

A Coast Guard boat crew arrived on scene at noon. Two of the men were transferred to the Coast Guard vessel, and one of the Coast Guardsmen went aboard the Mo Money with a de-watering pump.

They returned to shore safely. No injuries have been reported.
