Man took scrap metal from employer, deputies say

DELAND, Fla. – A DeLand man was arrested after deputies say he stole more than $3,700 worth of materials from a landfill on Sunday.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Korey Woulard, an employee of the Tomoka Landfill, was charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and violation of the secondary metal recyclers act.

Deputies said Woulard was selling nearly 3,500 pounds of materials such as copper, batteries and brass from the Tomoka Landfill to secondhand metals dealers since August.

Woulard was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach.
