Troopers said 17-year-old Garrett Daugharty was west on State Road 92, when for unknown reasons he drove off the shoulder of the road.

Troopers said Daugharty overcorrected, went into the median and into westbound traffic, where he hit 41-year-old Jennifer Collins head on.

Troopers said Daugharty was killed at the scene and Collins was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The road was shut down for several hours while troopers conducted their investigation, but no details have been released.

The road finally re-opened just after noon.

This is the sixth fatal accident that troopers have had to investigate in the Central Florida area this weekend.
