ST. CLOUD, Fla. -

A former homeowner's association lawn maintenance man has been arrested after deputies say he broke into one of the homes, tried to suffocate the 70-year-old resident and stole her bank card.

Osceola County Sheriff's Office charged Jose Diaz-Concepcion with home invasion, attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping-false imprisonment, receiving money/property fraud using credit card and battery on a person 65 years old or older.

Deputies said the victim contacted them at 2:30 a.m. Saturday and said she awoke to a man on top of her, suffocating her with a pillow and telling her he would kill her. The victim struggled with the suspect, who is identified as Concepcion.

Concepcion demanded money from the victim, who told him she only had her bank card, deputies say. He then left with the bank card and attempted to withdraw money, according to a news release.

The victim said during the attack she never saw Concepcion's face but recognized his voice from talking to him numerous times while he was in the neighborhood working.

Detectives said they questioned Concepcion and on June 23 and booked him into the Osceola County Jail.
