38-year-old faces aggravated child abuse charges

Flagler County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man on Thursday on aggravated child abuse charges after they say he abused a child from head to toe.

Stanley Wykretowicz, 38, was arrested after an investigation began on Feb. 24 when he brought a 2-year-old girl, who was unresponsive and had bruising on her body from head to toe, to the emergency room.

Wykretowicz told deputies he is the child's primary caregiver and that she had fallen into the bathtub Sunday, hitting her head on the spout and possibly on her bath toys, which caused bruising on her back and buttocks.

According to the report, Wykretowicz told detectives that the child fallen while trying to get out of the bathtub on Monday morning, hitting her abdomen on the side of the tub.

Wykretowicz also said in another incident, he noticed the child's abdomen appeared to be bloated so he tried to make the child vomit.

The child is in critical but stable condition on Thursday, deputies said. She needed abdominal surgery to repair a colon laceration and had severe injuries from blunt force trauma that appeared to be several days old.

Wykretowicz was taken to Flagler County jail on $150,000 bond.
