Girl's legs run over at New Smyrna Beach

6-year-old taken to nearby hospital

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A 6-year-old was taken to a hospital Monday after her legs were run over by a vehicle driven by her mother on New Smyrna Beach, officials said.

Beach officials said the incident happened beachside around noon near 2600 South Atlantic Avenue.

According to Volusia County Beach Patrol, the girl jumped out of the vehicle as her mother was parking and her legs were run over. 

Officials said the girl's injuries appeared to be minor, but she was taken to a hospital.

No other details were immediately known.
