Google Maps, Pokémon team up for large-scale April Fool's prank

For April Fool's day, Google created a prank video unveiling an epic Pokémon-based augmented reality game that can be played on a smartphone.

In the fake game, users would hold up their smartphones in different areas and be able to see a Pokémon ready for battle.

While this video was a prank, Google did create a less sophisticated Pokémon game for iOS and Android users.

For April Fool's day only, the Google Maps app features 150 different Pokémon spread throughout the map that can be caught and added to a collection.

Open the latest version of the Google Maps app and tap "Search" to begin the quest.
