Gunman robs Orlando store workers, opens fire on witness

Orange County deputies search for man

ORLANDO, Fla. – A gunman beat and robbed two employees who were closing up shop late Wednesday in Orlando, and he also fired shots at a witness who tried to follow him, according to deputies.

The robbery happened in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree in the 8100 block of John Young Parkway near the attractions.

According to Orange County Sheriff's deputies, two workers were leaving for the night when they were ambushed by a man who punched one of them and pistol-whipped the other.

After robbing the pair, the man drove off, but a witness followed him, according to deputies, who said the gunman opened fire on the witnesses' car.  The witness was not injured.

The robbery victims were not seriously injured.

A detailed description of the gunman has not been released.
