Gunmen kidnap man at Florida Mall, deputies say

Man says he was beaten by gunmen, robbed

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man kidnapped, beaten and robbed was the victim of a targeted attack and knew the assailants, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The incident began around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the Florida Mall at 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando.

According to deputies, three gunmen kidnapped the man from a bus stop outside the Sears store at the mall.  The man was taken to a house, where the gunmen, one of whom had a shotgun, beat him up and robbed him, according to deputies, who also said the man was forced to withdraw money from an ATM.

The man said he was dropped off around 4 a.m. Monday at a 7-Eleven near Boggy Creek Road and Tradeport Drive in southeast Orlando.

The victim suffered minor injuries, including scratches and abrasions on his head and body, deputies said.

A detailed description of the assailants was not known.  They were believed to be driving a white, older model Mazda SUV.

An investigation is ongoing.
