BARTOW, Fla. – A woman who escaped from Polk County deputies while only wearing pants was later found on some railroad tracks and re-arrested after she again tried to flee, officials said.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Bartow police found Vinzena Wardell, 31, on the railroad tracks at Polk Street near Mill Avenue around 7:30 a.m.
Wednesday.

Wardell ran from police, but she was caught by Bartow K-9 team in the parking lot of the city public works building just west of Mill Avenue on Boulevard Street, deputies said.

Wardell was taken to Bartow Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries she sustained from the K-9, deputies said.

Deputies initially arrested Wardell at her Bartow home around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, but she resisted and a struggle ensued.  Deputies used a stun gun on her and then took her to a hospital to be medically cleared.

Just after midnight, as deputies were escorting Wardell from the hospital, she opened the patrol car door and escaped while still restrained and wearing only black pants, according to deputies.

She faces several charges, including failure to appear, grand theft, scheming to defend, exploitation of the elderly, resisting arrest and escape.
