ORLANDO, Fla. – Every year, there's always a Halloween costume that causes controversy. But this year, it's makeup that's facing criticism.
A suicide scar wound kit is featured on Walmart's website.
"I've had friends who've cut. I've had people from my school commit suicide and things like that. Glorifying cutting is not the answer. Just no," Katie Blackman said.
She's not the only one who thinks the makeup is offensive. News 6 found comments all over the internet with people saying the same thing, so News 6 decided to take their concerns to Walmart.
"This costume is appalling and it was unacceptable for a third-party seller to list it on our marketplace. It clearly violated our prohibited items policy and we removed it when it was brought to our attention," Walmart said to News 6 in a statement.
Blackman said she's glad to hear that, and has a message for those who may be contemplating suicide.
"People who cut, who are depressed, please seek medical help. People love you. I swear. I don't know you. I love you. Help yourself. Please," she said.
