Hard Rock plans fall through at Daytona Beach

Developer blames beach-driving lawsuits

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Plans for a $150 million Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach have hit a major road block. The project now likely won't happen at all.

According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, Canadian developer Henry Wolfond's contract with Hard Rock has lapsed, and the project is at best on hold.

The plan, which was launched back in 2014, was to build a new hotel, condos and a cafe along the beach south of International Drive Boulevard.

Wolfond is blaming the plans' failure on beach-driving lawsuits, saying it scared off potential investors.
