Brevard County's largest health care provider is now requiring all of its employees to get a flu shot and workers who don't comply will be kept off the schedule.
According to our news partner Florida Today, the company's more than 7,500 employees were notified of the change Tuesday. The company isn't saying workers who don't get the shots will be fired, but does say anyone who has not received the vaccine by a December 15th deadline will be kept off the schedule.
Similar mandated flu shots have caused controversy in other parts of the country. Health First says it will make exemptions to some employees for medical and religious reasons.
It's hoped having all workers vaccinated will help stop the spread of the flu when the season peaks this winter.
