Hearing held for mom accused of driving kids into ocean off Daytona Beach

Attorney for Ebony Wilkerson seeks jail documents

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A mother accused of trying to kill her children by driving her van into the ocean off Daytona Beach attended a court hearing Friday morning.

The attorney representing Ebony Wilkerson recently filed a motion claiming his client may have suffered a hypoglycemic attack during the March incident.  Wilkerson's attorney was seeking jail documents that focused on her treatment.

The motion was denied without prejudice because the state and defense said would resolve the issue.

The judge also heard arguments about Wilkerson testing positive for ethanol during a random urine test, which is a stipulation of her pre-trial bond release.  The human body creates ethanol when drinking alcohol, but Wilkerson's defense team said she took some NyQuil the night before the test.

The state and defense agreed to increase Wiklerson's random testing to every week.
