DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Drivers are preparing for a lot of traffic around the Daytona International Speedway on Thursday night.

It's the first year the Budweiser Duel will be under the lights- normally an afternoon race, the duel starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Daytona Beach Police are encouraging drivers who are not heading to the race to avoid International Speedway Boulevard, and use Beville Road or LPGA Boulevard as an alternative.

"Since I'm a local, I know all the back ways in, so I can sneak in, and get out a lot before the tourists can," said Doug Aurand of Port Orange.

Police are also encouraging drivers to park in Lot 7 on Clyde Morris Blvd.

Aurand says he may give that a try.

"The problem is after the race, I don't try and get out on 95, I don't try and get out on Highway 4- any of those big interstates, they're going to pack up," he said.
