Heritage High School coach, team welcome baby Benjamin Smalls

Coach let team name child after winning season

PALM BAY, Fla. – Welcome to the world, Benjamin Smalls Ellis Querry!

Coach Rob Querrey told his Heritage High baseball team that if they were able to win 14 games, they could pick the name of his baby boy.

Heritage High School had never had a winning season is in the school's existence. The coach believed the motivation behind naming his kid would inspire his team to make history.  

The team completed the task with a 16-9 finish and decide on the name "Benjamin Smalls" in honor of the classic baseball movie " The Sandlot".

On July 27, Benjamin was born, the Heritage Panthers Baseball Facebook page welcomed him into the world with a picture and a message reading, "PANTHER FAMILY! PANTHER PRIDE!"
