Hot week on tap for Central Florida

Rain chances slim on Labor Day in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Labor Day provided plenty of sunshine in the Orlando area, and it's expected to continue for most of the week.

"Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen on hand," Local 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

The high temperature will reach the low 90s during the week, with overnight lows in the low 70s.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents at Central Florida beaches, which were packed for the holiday, and seas will be elevated because of Tropical Storm Leslie, which is churning in the open Atlantic.

"She will not reach land," Bridges said.

Rain chances will increase in the Orlando area by the end of the week, with a 40-percent chance expected from Friday through Sunday.
