LAKE MARY, Fla. – The challenge is officially on.
Friends, family and supporters of John McGivern and Emily Edwards gathered Saturday morning at the Lake Mary Farmer's Market to celebrate the kickoff of a year-long weight loss challenge.
John and Emily are the official "ambassadors" for "Take the Challenge," sponsored by Lake Mary Healthy Living Magazine.
The "challenge" is an effort to motivate Central Floridians to achieve their own weight loss goals by following the example of two lucky winners.
The pair were chosen from over 150 entries.
For their part they will receive the help of a team of experts ranging from a nutritionist to pilates instructors all helping them reach their goals.
Saturday's event began with an official weigh in in front of the gathered crowd.
Both McGivern and Edwards hope to lose over 125 pounds in the coming year.
