Hundreds to take part in MLK Day of Service Events

800 volunteers sign up to participate in community service projects

ORLANDO, Fla. – More than 800 volunteers are expected to take part in a variety of community service projects Monday, to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

Volunteers will help clean up several city of Orlando parks and the Parramore neighborhood. 

The events are organized by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Mayor's Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. 

Day of Service events will be held at Southpoint Community Park, Park of the Americas, Lake Fairview Park, Cherokee Park, Bill Frederick Park, the Jackson Community Center and Florida A & M College of Law. 

High school students who participate can earn community service hours and all volunteers will receive a T-shirt and refreshments.
