I-Drive tourist robbed at gunpoint

Orange County deputies search for 2 men

ORLANDO, Fla. – Deputies on Monday continue to search for two men who robbed a tourist at gunpoint in an Orlando hotel parking lot.

The victim, who is vacationing from Scotland, was walking back to his room at the Rosen Inn, located at 9000 International Drive, when he was approached from behind by two men, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said while one of the culprits held the man at gunpoint, the other demanded his backpack, wallet and cellphone.

"The person they robbed was a tourist, but whether (the gunmen) knew that prior to the robbery, we don't know," Orange County sheriff's Lt. Paul Hopkins said.

The victim was not injured.

Deputies were not able to locate the assailants, who ran off after the robbery.

Deputies are investigating whether the robbery is connected to a recent string of hotel robberies in Central Florida.

A detailed description of the culprits was not known, and investigators are checking security cameras to see if the robbery was captured on video.
