IKEA issues recall for 3 million baby-bed canopies

IKEA recalls canopies from past 18 years

ORLANDO, Fla. – IKEA has issued a recall on baby-bed canopies made in the past 18 years.

Due to a strangulation danger, eight models of canopies were recalled by the furniture store on Tuesday. This recall effects more than three million products worldwide, and people who have purchased the canopies are asked to return the item to IKEA stores. A refund will be issued for returned products.

The affected bed canopies are Legendarisk, Minnen Bed Canopy Set, Barnslig Boll, Minnen Brodyr, Himmel, Fabler, Tissla and Klammig.

"We apologize for any possible inconvenience this may cause, but safety is always the highest priority for IKEA," the company added in a statement.

The company didn't explain why it took so long to recall the products, some of which were sold in 1996.
