Improvements for pedestrians to be made along International Drive in Orlando

City hopes to make roadway safer

ORLANDO, Fla. – The heart of Central Florida's tourist district is about to become safer due to changes being made in an improvement project, officials said.

Crews broke ground Tuesday morning along International Drive near the intersection of Universal Boulevard in Orlando.

Over the next few months and into next year, workers will add bus lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks. They will also add new traffic lights from Universal Boulevard to Oak Ridge Road near the Festival Bay Mall.

The city is implementing this improvement project in order to make the conditions safer for pedestrians.
