ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – There's been an increase in coyote sightings reported in Ormond Beach.
Police said coyotes have been spotted up and down the beach side, and they're warning people to keep an eye out.
Neighbors said they've even seen them cross through their backyards.
"My dad let my dog out at like 5 o'clock in the morning, and dog came out barking loud. My dad saw a coyote just walk across the street and scared him off," Anjelica Disaldo said.
That's not the only time people have spotted the wildlife. Many people posted about the coyote sightings on Facebook.
One person said it came right up into their driveway on John Anderson Drive and tried to attack their cats. Another person took a picture of a coyote in the area. Both are getting dangerously close to homes.
"I think it's kind of weird to have them on beachside, maybe on like near the woods over there," Disaldo said.
Ormond Beach police put out a flier telling everyone who lives beachside if they see a coyote not to approach it, and also reminding people to keep their smaller pets inside.
"It makes me more prone to outer settings. I would feel kind of comfortable that they know there are coyotes on beachside," she said.
If a coyote does approach you, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said to scare it away with loud noises, and if it tried to attack you to defend yourself.
