A woman in her 70s was awakened at her home to a stranger who made her perform sex acts on him, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
The sexual battery occurred late Sunday night in the Sunnyside area of Leesburg.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the woman reported the incident around 2 a.m. Monday after the assailant left.
The woman told deputies that she woke up around 11:30 p.m. and a man was in her room. She said the man then sexually battered her, according to deputies.
A search of the area failed to locate the man.
The culprit was described as a white man, possibly 6 feet tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a dark shirt and light-colored shorts. The woman said he has a deep voice and possibly has gray hair.
According to detectives, there were no signs of forced entry to the home. The victim told detectives she thought she locked the door, but could not be certain. The woman's attacker did not take anything from the home, according to deputies.
"I'm very scared. I'm going to keep the doors locked tonight and make sure they're extra tight," said Karin Ketchum, a neighbor.
"It's scary because you hear it on the news all the time and suddenly it's in your own neighborhood," said Ron Christiansen.
Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
