Intruder shot during Orlando home invasion

Man taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

ORLANDO, Fla. – A resident shot one of three intruders early Wednesday during an Orlando home invasion, according to deputies.

Orange County Sheriff's deputies said two men and a woman, one of whom had a shotgun, broke into a home at the Villa Tuscany apartments on Sherwood Terrace Drive in Orlando.

Three people were inside the home celebrating a birthday and a scuffle broke out, said deputies, adding that one of the residents grabbed a gun and shot an intruder.

The three assailants fled the scene and drove off but were quickly apprehended by deputies after a neighbor called 911, officials said.

The man who was shot was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The motive for the break-in was not immediately known.

Officials initially told Local 6 there were five people inside the home.
