Jesus photos snatched from priest's home

Burglar steals priest's Jesus pictures, watches

DELTONA, Fla. – Police are searching for the person they say broke into a priest's home near a church building in Deltona and stole pictures of Jesus.

According to police reports, a burglar broke into the residence of Father Carlos Bedoya on Florida Drive near St. Clare's Catholic Church while he was out of town and stole three wristwatches, a picture of a cross and three pictures of Jesus.

A church maintenance worker discovered break-in on Tuesday, police said. Police said the screen was missing from the bedroom window and metal bars were forcibly removed from the window, with shattered glass on the ground.

Volusia County deputies said they don't know if Bedoya was targeted, but called the break-in unusual. They said when they arrived, several valuables, including expensive electronics, appeared to be untouched.

"Father Carlos is part of the family, (he's) been here a few times, blessed my house," said Gisele Roubian, who lives right behind the priest and attends St. Clare. "I cannot understand how people can do stuff like this."
Deputies said they don't have leads on suspects and don't know who would steal pictures of Jesus.
