LONGWOOD, Fla. -

Deputies are searching for a group of thieves who smashed their way through the front door of a Longwood jewelry shop early Monday.

The break-in happened around 2 a.m. at Professional Jewelry Services, which is located at 2484 State Road 434.

According to deputies, a group of people forced their way through the front door of the business and stole jewelry and cash before running off.

When deputies responded to the alarm call, they found several jewelry cases smashed and receipts scattered on the ground.

Deputies said there is surveillance video of the break-in, but detectives have not yet been able to view it.

Two other store burglaries were reported in Seminole County early Monday, but it's not known if any are connected.
