Jury seated in trial for 2nd man charged with Cady Way Trail teen slayings

Hector Rodriguez charged in death of Winter Park High School teens

ORLANDO, Fla. – The 12-person jury has been seated on Tuesday in the trial for the man charged in the slayings of two Winter Park High School teens.

Hector Rodriguez, 32, one of two men charged in the slayings of 16-year-old Nicholas Presha and 18-year-old Jeremy Stewart -- along the Cady Way Trail on April 15. Jesse Davis pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison in November 2012.

Rodriguez rejected a plea deal on Friday of second-degree murder charges and 30 years of prison.

Jurors will return to the courtroom at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday for opening statements.

Rodriguez faces a maximum of six consecutive life sentences in the case.

Davis, who pleaded guilty to the teens' murders, was recently moved back to the Orange County Jail from prison. The move is a result of a court order and it appears may be a preparation for Davis to testify in the trial.
