KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A Kissimmee hotel that was set ablaze two days before Christmas hopes to reopen this week.
Unno Boutique Hotel on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway sustained extensive damage in the Dec. 23 fire, and authorities continue to search for a person of interest in connection with the two-alarm blaze.
Maintenance workers made their rounds Monday at the hotel, putting new locks on the doors. There are also shiny new air conditioners at the hotel.
More than 200 people were displaced because of the fire, which investigators say was intentionally set. Authorities are looking for Kevin Stewart, whom they believe has information about what happened.
For the hotel to reopen, an inspector will have to ensure that the building is structurally sound and does not have extensive smoke or water damage. It will also have to pass other code inspections.
