LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities in Lake County are investigating after a jail inmate died Sunday morning while at a hospital.

Jamey Jones was arrested Friday by Leesburg police on an active felony warrant during a traffic stop.

An officer noticed during the traffic stop that Jones was wearing a hospital bracelet, authorities said. She said she had just gotten out of the hospital where she had been treated for sciatic pain.

Authorities said emergency medical services personnel arrived and medically cleared Jones. She was taken into custody and booked into the jail at 11:15 p.m.

Medical staff at the jail received a call around 5 p.m. Saturday about Jones complaining of sciatic pain, authorities said. She was assessed by medical staff and taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Authorities said Jones went into cardiac arrest while at the hospital at 3 a.m. Sunday and was pronounced dead.
